There are 3 important steps you should take in order to ensure you get the best tattoo possible, and have no regrets. Here are the 3 steps to a great tattoo:
1. Avoid Trends.
One of the biggest reasons people regret getting tattooed is because they blindly jumped on the bandwagon and got a tattoo that was so-called "popular" at the time. Either popular with the group of friends they had at the time, or popular in a societal trendy way.
Tribal tattoos for instance had a big trendy period a few years ago. Everyone jumped on board and went out getting tribal tattoos because they appeared to be the latest trend in tattoos and at the time were viewed as being cool in society. Now the trend has drastically died down, and many are left with tribal designs that are no longer the "in" thing in tattooing. Though some are still very content with their decision since they truly do like tribal designs, others on the other hand suddenly felt a sense of regret now that the trend had simmered down.
2. Go Bigger, not Smaller.
Often times people will be conservative with the size of their tattoo, especially if it is their first one. They will usually go smaller rather than considering a bigger design. This is very natural, as one wants to play it safe and not go to big. But what tends to happen is that many people later regret that they went so small and didn't have their design be bigger!
So when considering the size of your tattoo, stop yourself when your natural instincts for a smaller design kick in, and consider going a step larger. Sit with a larger design for a few days and you'll probably come to the conclusion that bigger is better.
3. Find a Great Design ONLINE.
The biggest regret you'll have is not finding a really great design. It's definitely worth looking at every avenue for the best and latest designs available, and now days you can do all that online.
