"diet" tends to make one think immediately about losing weight. Society today associates this word with getting thinner. However, the real meaning of the word "diet" is any food or beverage that you consume, therefore, the food you eat has a direct impact on your health.

The pH miracle diet is not just a regime to lose weight, in fact, the first volume of this popular series was dedicated to general health. The original pH miracle diet book focuses on many issues, including aging.

What has aging got to do with pH and acid/alkaline foods?

Some experts argue that the cause of aging, can be directly attributed the amount of acidic food we consume. The theory being, that the body is unable to efficiently rid the waste and toxins that accumulated.

We burn nutrients within our cells for energy production, maintaining the temperature of our body and for our body to function properly. Whatever type of food you eat, regardless of whether they be - vegetables or meat, acid or alkaline, rich or junk food, they all consist of the same elements: carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen.

them, to produce natural acids: carbonic acid, uric acid, lactic and fatty acids. The cells expel these acids as waste into urine and sweat. When the body is functioning properly and in a balanced manner, these waste acids are not a problem. The body can get rid of them quickly and easily, and can maintain a normal pH of about 7.4.

However, the modern life has resulted in our bodies being unable to rid themselves of the acids properly. Lack of sleep, lack of exercise, overwork, stress, smoking, pollution and acid diets (heavy in meat and dairy products) all prevent our bodies from efficiently ridding ourselves of these acids.

Worse, modern agriculture and food production practices are producing foods with a greater acidic content, than in years gone by. Inorganic acids such as chlorine, phosphorus and sulfur accumulate in meats, grains and root crops from the soil, air quality and agricultural practices. Today, we consume more inorganic acid minerals than we ever have done in previous generations. All this adds to the inability of our body to expel the acids.

The pH miracle diet creates a perfect balance in our overly acidic lives, fighting premature aging, which is due to the accumulation of acid in the body. Naturally healthy cells have a slightly alkaline pH, and since acid and alkaline are chemical opposites, high levels of acid destroy the cells.
