If there is one good fatty acid that's produced in our body cells then it has to be Alpha lipoic acid more commonly known as ALA or thiotic acid or as lipoic acid, which helps in the conversion of glucose into energy. Alpha lipoic acid is also a great anti oxidant that helps fight free radicals that cause many ailments in the body. At times the body becomes deficient in glutathione, an antioxidant that helps clean up the body of harmful substances. Alpha lipoic acid ensures the increase of the production of glutathione. Alpha lipoic acid or ALA is chiefly manufactured in the body cells and is also found in small quantities in foods like rice bran, Brewer's yeast, greens like broccoli, spinach and peas and in some meats. ALA or alpha lipoic acid is also available as supplements in the form of capsules at drug and health stores.
