* College of Gymnastics
* College of Cosmetics
* College of Secondary Education
* Recognized Private School
Founded in 1922, the Anna Herrmann-School is one of Germany's oldest schools for the training of certified gymnastics teachers. It is an example in terms of keeping up traditional values. Specialising on prevention and rehabilitation, however, the school has always had the ability to account for changes, without compromising its basic values. Founded as a recognized educational institute of gymnastics it has developed to be a supplementary private school funded mainly by the state.
Today it is a college of gymnastics and since 2001 also a college of cosmetics.
Vocational training at the Anna Herrmann School:
* Certified Gymnastics Teacher specialising in Prevention and Rehabilitation
* Certified Cosmetician specialising in Medical Cosmetics
A characteristic feature of modern society is lack of exercise and one-sided strain. On the other hand, there is a growing awareness regarding body and health. For many people, a lifestyle which includes healthy living means healthy nutrition and sports, also in terms of prevention. Extreme sports are becoming less popular as people are more and more turning to more gentle kinds of sporting activities. Mental and social aspects are gaining in importance. Everyone who enjoys dealing with groups of people, who considers physical activity both a manifestation of joie de vivre and a way of maintaining it, and who wants to work in the areas of prevention and rehabilitation, i.e. actively preventing disease and actively helping people to regain their health, will find a career as a gymnastic teacher the ideal choice.
The course takes three years and begins each year after the end of the Northrhine-Westfalian summer holidays. After the examination, you will be a "Staatlich geprüfte/r Gymnastics Teacher" (Certified Gymnastics Teacher), and there is the additional opportunity to take the "Fachhochschulreife" exam at the same time. This is roughly equivalent to British A levels and is the entry requirement for all German universities of applied science.
