Oh, so she went out without me. I mean...I assume she had work. But way to say goodbye, Delia. I walked out and closed the door behind me. I washed up and made my way downstairs to grab some breakfast.
Just then my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Nick. "Hello?" I answered.
"Hey," he said with a slight rasp in his deep voice. Oh...so this is the way he sounded in the morning. Can he call me every morning?
"Hey," I replied looking through the cabinets. When had Delia become such a health nut? There was nothing but healthy junk in here. I'm a real trooper when it comes to being healthy but not this much. "How are you?"
"I'm doing well. I just woke up. What about you?" He yawned really loudly.
"I just woke up too. Delia's gone somewhere and she didn't even say bye. She's still mad about last night, I assume. And now I'm just looking for something to eat." I opened one of the top cabinets, standing on my tippy toes.
"Oh, that's useless. She has nothing but healthy junk in there. Come to iHop with me," he said.
"Right now?" I asked him, sinking back to the ground and cocking my eyebrow.
"Why not?" he asked. "I'm looking for some breakfast and I need a partner to go with."
I laughed. "Um, sure I guess. I've got nothing better to do."
"Alright," Nick chuckled. "I'll pick you up in about a half hour or so. Is that enough time to get ready for you? Delia takes about an hour."
"I'll be ready in ten minutes, Nick," I laughed going up the stairs towards my room.
"Lovely," he said. "I'll see you in fifteen minutes. You get the extra five minutes in case you're just bluffing me."
"Just get here fast," I giggled.
He hung up the phone with another laugh and I hung up as well. I hugged the phone to my chest with this stupid smile on my face. I needed to snap out of it. He was just a friend, gosh. I put the phone down and grabbed a pair of black jeans shorts. I popped on a black batman shirt on top and grabbed my black chucks and put them on as well. I somehow brushed my hair and tied it up in a pony tail. I looked like a little kid.
I needed some make up. I looked around for an eyeliner pencil and finally found one. I put it on quickly just to have it smudged everywhere. Oh well...it works in some ways. I ran downstairs and paced the room.
I was excited, couldn't you tell?
It was so stupid. I shouldn't feel like this because Nick's inviting me to have breakfast. He's my friend. He's also my best friend's boyfriend. And I need to just back the fuck up. I sat down on the living room couch and just as I was about to turn on the TV, the doorbell rang. I practically dropped the remote and screamed. I figured it was Nick and practically ran to the door.
I opened it to the most heavenly face. Nick's smile can make anyone smile. It's that adorable and contagious."Hey," he said grinning. "You ready?"
"Yes sir," I mumbled laughing as I closed the door behind me and locked it. "You could have just honked or like...called instead of getting out of the car and going all the way to the door and ringing the bell."
Nick laughed as he got into the car and opened it for me from the inside. I slid in and sat down next to him in the passenger seat. "I can't honk you or call you out for breakfast like some douche. My momma taught me well."
I giggled as he pulled out of the driveway and onto the streets. I fiddled with the radio while he drove onto the main road and speeded up. I settled on Radio Disney which was playing one of Nick's songs. I laughed at his expression and tried to hum along to the music. I failed because I think I listened to this once in my entire life.
Nick pulled into the parking lot of iHop and we climbed out of the car and headed inside. He had a table reserved already and the waitress led us to our booth. I slid in my seat across from Nick and smirked at him as I pulled open my menu.
After I decided upon a chicken and omelet fajita, I handed my menu to the waitress. Nick ordered spinach omelets and pancakes. "So how are you?" he asked me.
"I'm good And you?"
"I'm great," he grinned. His smile faded after a while. "Last night got pretty tense."
I snorted. "What you saw was nothing. She yelled at me after that," I said.
"Why?" he asked frowning.
"That's not important," I said. "Just our stuff. It's okay though."
"She can yell at me but to yell at you is just not necessary. I mean, you're her guest."
"Nick," I laughed. "It's fine. She's my best friend. We've had fights like this."
"I'm used to this. There have been numerous times when she's kicked me out of the house and I've just learned to deal with it. She called me this morning and apologized, actually."
